Clingan Ridge Baptist Church - Our Mission...Our Vision

Our mission is to effectively reach out to the unsaved...to cultivate spiritual growth and worship...and to be a place of refuge.

Our mission is to be consistent with God's principles of love and compassion in order to fulfill the Great Commission, while bringing honor to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

My vision for Clingan Ridge Baptist Church is to be a Church of Disciples...making disciples for the Glory of God.

-Gary Moats, Senior Pastor

A Brief History of Clingan Ridge Baptist Church

On June 26, 1938, Clingan Ridge Baptist Church was organized in the yard of Mrs. Inez Vaughn on what is now church property.

The original church building was built on land facing Guthrie Drive, sold to the church by J.P. Rayfield for the cost of $5.

Today's church building is still located on the same city block facing Georgetown Road.

Its name comes from the nearby ridge settled by the Alexander A. Clingan family in 1835 shortly after Bradley County was founded.

Clingan Ridge Baptist Church chose Rev. Edgar Colloms as its first pastor. He began his pastorate on July 3, 1938 with twelve charter members.

Over the years the church has acquired two city blocks in its current location. A new building replaced the original building in 1957 with two major remodeling projects occurring in 1977 and 1994.

The current main sanctuary was constructed in 2001 with the original one being remodeled into an Education Building.

During its 75-year history, Clingan Ridge Baptist Church has been blessed with 18 different pastors.

The current church membership now exceeds 800.
